While teaching tai chi students in Pushkar, India in 1991, Gingi Lee is summoned to meet Swami Shyam Yogi whose students have told him of Gingi’s teachings. Gingi has no inclination to study yoga but is curious to see what it is that this swami wants with him. That first meeting at 5am in a mud hut is a turning point for him. Shyam illuminates the yoga path for him and makes him realise that the warrior path is not his calling. He visits Shyam every morning for months on end and studies asana, philosophy, pranayama and meditation with him over the next few years.
