Please download a free breathing app – one that lets you choose a count for sama vritti / coherent breathing. This will come in handy for your own practice as well as on the training course:

VIRTUAL LIVESTREAM | Practicalities
- The zoom link will be sent out one hour before the session starts.
- Please do check your mailboxes as it may go to a spam/social/promotions folder.
- Make sure the correct name is on your Zoom
- Use the “raised hand” if you wish to speak
- Keep yourself on MUTE at all times except when invited to speak
- Be mindful of whether you’re talking more than others to allow quieter members of the group to contribute
- Please also use the CHAT function to the whole group or to the tutor only if needs be
- Keep your camera on if you are comfortable to do so as this creates a safer space for all
- Please be aware that all sessions are recorded and shared with the attendees. Your visuals will not appear in the recording but any audio will.
Course Resources
- all sessions will be recorded, and you will be sent a link to catch up the following day which will be available for the duration of the course for you to recap and revisit as well as for an additional 2 weeks after completion of the course.
- You will be given a host of Video Manuals , including extra sessions on Pranayama for Trauma and Children, that will be available for you to access for the duration of the course as well as 2 weeks after the last session. You will be given access 1 or 2 days after the first session along with the catch up recording.
- You will also be given a Written Manual as well as a Science of Pranayama document which has been uploaded in this folder Written Manual Please download this by 8 November.
Structure of the Sessions
Come prepared to do some asana, some pranayama and meditation plus teaching practice. Bring whatever props you might need for short asana practice and for sitting for pranayama

each week Melanie will give a 30-minute talk on a different aspect of the theory, practice, and teaching of Pranayama.

As usual, on Melanie’s courses, the teaching practice is optional. You can teach in a small group in a break-out room, or be a student in a break-out room only, or arrange to teach someone at home (if you have a handy person) either in real life or online. You can let the teacher know in each session if you want to do the teaching practice in break-out rooms.
Course Homework
- Write a guided meditation on breathing based on the anatomy covered during the course
- Write a 30 min Asana Sequence to support Pranayama based on the anatomy you cover during the course (hand in as drawings or words whatever works for you)
- Watch the guest lecture videos in the video manual and write a short report on your main takeaways

For our final teaching practice you will create a 15 minute physical practice to support breath work (if you’re not a yoga teacher talk to Melanie about alternatives) and then teach 15 minutes of Pranayama.
If you’re unable to attend the final session or if you can’t join the breakout rooms you can record a 15 minute video and send it to Melanie with your coursework. This option comes with a £25 admin fee
