Founded in 1997 by Californian-turned-Londoner Gingi Lee, the Shala (originally known as the Sangam) was one of the capital's first dedicated yoga centres. In 2014, after 17 years in Clapham, the Shala expanded into a newly refurbished Victorian warehouse in West Norwood. The Shala story really spans three decades, however, and goes back to the early 80s when director, Gingi began training and apprenticing in martial arts with his father. This was to be the start of his journey as a highly respected teacher and is in many ways the origin of the Shala yoga centre. Here are some of the happenings that have punctuated the way on the Shala's amazing journey, a path that has been blessed with community, sharing, healing and growth.
The Shala is a well respected yoga and Pilates centre which has earnt its reputation from two decades of offering yoga classes to the South London community.
