workshops - classes - retreats
- Class cancellations must be done online.
- Class cancellations with less than 6 hours notice will be charged for. Some courses and workshops may have other cancellation periods.
- Class cancellations will be processed as credit back to packs/memberships if made before the cancellation cut-off period.
- Class cancellations on other purchases will be credited back to student accounts if made before the cut-off period. These purchases include our low-cost tier options. If you have cancelled a purchase for a low-cost tier space, please contact admin@theshala.co.uk. These purchases may be directly transferred (rebooked based on availability), refunded (less any credit card processing fees), or applied to your Momence account as “money credits” (again, less any processing fees) which may be applied towards another purchase (to use “money credits”, please select “memberships” when rebooking).
- Late cancellations and no shows will be charged as if you had attended.
- In the event that a class is cancelled, you will be offered a refund or the option to be transferred to an alternative date.
- For more information or to query a cancellation or request a refund due to extenuating circumstances, please email admin@theshala.co.uk.
- Purchases for workshops are non-refundable
- Cancellations may be made online up to 72-hours before the start of the workshop in which case your Shala account will be credited and you will be able to rebook for the same workshop on a different date
- Late cancellations and no shows will be charged as if you had attended
- In the event that a workshop is cancelled, you will be offered a refund or the option to be transferred to an alternative date.
Retreats at the Shala are conducted in collaboration with Emerson College and the designated retreat instructors.
Deposits & Payment Arrangements:
- Upon booking, a non-refundable deposit is required. This deposit is collected on behalf of Emerson College who provide the food and accommodation. *Any issues relating to this provision should be addressed with the college directly.
- Deposits and retreat purchases are non-refundable and cannot be transferred.
- A 3-installment payment plan is automatically established upon booking.
- Please be aware that if your booking occurs within 30 days of the event, full payment will be required. If booked within 60 days, only 2 installments are feasible.
- Your card information is securely stored to facilitate automated processing of the second payment.
- Late cancellations and no-shows will incur charges as if you had attended.
- In the event of the Shala or Emerson College cancelling the retreat, you will have the option of a refund or the opportunity to reschedule for an alternative date.
Emerson College Terms and Conditions:
- The kitchen cater for vegan and gluten free ONLY and are, unfortunately, unable to cater to individual allergies beyond that. If you have any allergies, we invite you to chat to the chef ahead of the meals to check on ingredients and potential contamination. If you need access to a kitchen for any additional self-catering needs, please let us know and that can be arranged. On arrival, those who have specified allergies will be requested to sign a waiver.
- Adhere to all fire and safety regulations and protocols.
- Abstain from alcohol consumption and the use of illegal drugs, which are prohibited on campus.
- Take responsibility for the security of personal belongings, both in rooms and vehicles, and demonstrate respect for Emerson College property and its environment (including maintaining quiet for fellow guests during nighttime).
- Refrain from utilizing rooms in a manner that causes disturbance or annoyance to other groups.
- Except for guide dogs or hearing dogs, pets are not permitted on the premises.
- All events must conclude by 10 pm at the latest; quiet hours on campus are observed from 10 pm until 6 am.
- While you are entitled to uninterrupted use of the rooms during your booked times, you must permit access to authorized Emerson College personnel for cleaning, maintenance checks, repairs, or in case of emergencies.
- Ensure that rooms are left in a clean and orderly condition upon departure at the end of your stay.
- Standard electricity, central heating, and hot water usage are covered in the pricing.
- Standard broadband internet usage is included in the pricing. Due to structural limitations, Wi-Fi connectivity may not be available in all rooms.
- Emerson College exclusively hosts events for individuals aged 18 years and above.
- Any IN STUDIO attendees with possible symptoms of Covid are requested to take a lateral flow Covid test before coming to the studio.
- The Shala reserves the right to photograph or film during the course and to use these images for our website and marketing purposes. If you do not wish to appear in the photograph or films, please make this known to the teacher at the outset of the course. Thank you.
Voluntary Participation:
Before participating in this or any other exercise program, individuals should consult with a physician. I, the undersigned, acknowledge that I have voluntarily chosen and requested to participate in the yoga class, workshop, training, event, or activity sponsored by The Shala.
Acknowledgment:
I am aware that participation in the yoga class, workshop, training, or event involves inherent risks including but not limited to physical strain, emotional discomfort and mental introspection.
Personal Responsibility:
I acknowledge that I am solely responsible for my own health and well-being during the course of the program or class. I agree to listen to my body, communicate any discomfort or limitations to the instructor, and modify or abstain from activities as necessary to ensure my safety.
I understand that the Shala teachers may incorporate exercises aimed at exploring personal experiences, emotions, and beliefs to promote self-awareness and personal growth. I acknowledge that engaging in such exercises may evoke strong emotions and memories, including those that may be uncomfortable or distressing. I acknowledge that the instructors are not licensed therapists or mental health professionals and that I should seek professional guidance or therapy if I require support beyond the scope of the yoga studio.
Release:
In consideration for being permitted to participate in the yoga class, workshop, training, event, or activity, I agree that I, my heirs, assignees, guardians, and legal representatives will not make any claim against, sue, or attach the property of, any of the hosts, instructors, organizers, or participants in the yoga class, workshop, training, event, or activity including but not limited to The Shala, for injury, emotional distress or any other damage resulting from my participation in such yoga class, workshop, training, event, or activity. I release all such hosts, instructors, organizers, and participants, their agents and heirs, from any and all actions, causes of action, lawsuits, claims, or demands that I, my assignees, heirs, guardians, and legal representatives now have or hereafter may have for any and all injury, illness, loss of or damage to property associated with my participation in the yoga class, workshop, training, event, or activity. I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware and agree that it is a complete release of liability for any injuries or damages I may sustain due to yoga classes, workshops, trainings, events, and activities with The Shala and all such hosts, instructors, organisers, and participants.
Pregnant students:
If I am pregnant, I understand that it is my responsibility to consult with a physician before my participation in any activities at the Shala. I also understand that I participate fully at my own risk and the risk of my child/children. The Shala does not recommend practicing before 12 weeks and I understand that the Shala advises it is my responsibility to notify any/all teacher(s) of my pregnancy.
Medical Conditions:
If I am suffering/have suffered from a medical condition (including heart condition, chest pains, dizziness, high blood pressure) or a serious injury, I understand that I have been advised to first consult my doctor before joining classes. (Please then discuss this with us before booking so we can advise you.)
Mental Health Disclosure:
For teacher trainings, I understand that it is my responsibility to provide full transparency regarding any past and present mental health issues.
Under 18s:
If the account is for a person under the age of 18, I confirm that the contact details given here are for someone over 18.
Email Notifications:
By entering into this agreement, I agree to receive email notifications confirming information on my purchases, bookings, class reminders, pass expirations and cancellations.
Photography/Filming:
The Shala reserves the right to photograph or film during classes, workshops, trainings, events and activities and to use these images for the website and marketing purposes. By entering into this agreement, I agree that it is my responsibility to make myself known should I not wish to be photographed or filmed.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
I acknowledge that I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its conditions and knowingly agree to the terms and conditions stated here. I am aware that, by signing this agreement, I am giving up substantial rights, including my right to sue and certain legal rights my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns may have against any Released Party. By ticking this box on my Momence account, I hereby agree to the aforementioned terms and conditions as stated herein.
