This five-day (40-hour) Yoga Alliance accredited Yin yoga teacher training course with Norman Blair gives participants space to study and to explore this increasingly popular yoga practice. There will be detailed examination of poses, examples of sequencing, modifications and contraindications and plenty of time for participants to evaluate their own experience. The reasons for practicing and the immense benefits of this form of yoga will also be explained. 

This is a wonderful opportunity for practitioners to deepen their knowledge of Yin yoga in a small group (limited to 25) with one of the most experienced yin teachers in the UK. Three three-hour sessions will be led by external teachers: on anatomy, on meridians and on meditation. By the end of this course, participants will have a much deeper understanding of Yin yoga and qualified yoga teachers will be equipped to begin teaching Yin yoga.

This 5-day yin yoga teacher training course is both theoretical and creative, giving you the tools and the inspiration with which to confidently create your own sequencing. It can be attended as a stand-alone course or as an optional module on our 300-hour programme


Yin Yoga Teacher Training | Course Overview

This five-day immersion into Yin yoga with Norman Blair creates space for exploration and study.

The reasons for, and the results from practising this form will be explained. There will be detailed examination of poses, examples of sequencing and plenty of time to evaluate our own experience. Participants will learn about contraindications and modifications. 

By the end of the course, participants will have a deeper understanding of Yin as a practice. Qualified yoga teachers will be equipped to begin teaching Yin yoga. Learning Yin yoga will greatly expand your horizons as a teacher, equipping you with the tools to offer this deeply meditative practice to your students.

Course Content
  • practising more than twenty Yin yoga poses 
  • exploring the relationship between Yin yoga and meditation 
  • understanding the precautions and the possibilities of Yin yoga 
  • learning about meridians and how Yin yoga might influence energy flows 
  • examining the differences between Yin yoga, Restorative yoga and dynamic yoga 
  • doing Yin yoga in different ways (with props, without props and more) 
  • the history of Yin yoga 
  • examining some of the theories behind Yin yoga
  • You will receive two manuals plus handouts on anatomy, meridians and meditation – and more

About Norman Blair

Norman Blair is one of the most experienced Yin yoga teachers in the UK. He began practising yoga in the early 1990s, has been teaching since 2001, started teaching Yin yoga in 2003 and has been running five-day intensive Yin yoga courses since 2013.

Norman has studied extensively with teachers such as Sarah Powers, Bernie Clark, Judith Lasater and Richard Freeman. In 2016 his book Brightening Our Inner Skies; Yin and Yoga was published.
