Yin & Restorative Yoga Class
VIRTUAL online classes livestreamed from our studio in West Norwood / West Dulwich, South London
Our slow and meditative Restore classes take the form of Yin and Restorative practices. The focus is on quieting the mind and gently stretching the deeper muscles, joints and fascia in the body. In Eastern traditions, Yin is a compliment to Yang and yin yoga can greatly compliment more dynamic yoga practices, cultivating a sense of letting go. Time, as duration, is an important aspect of the practice, allowing the body to mould into shapes, release to gravity, and be carried through by the slowing breath.
By switching on the parasympathetic nervous system, the practice helps reverse the effects of stress and cultivates a sense of equanimity and relaxation. Yin yoga can add new qualities to a more dynamic yoga practice. Softening, letting go, backing off, allowing the breath to still the mind are all gifts of a yin yoga practice. The class will take you through a series of poses that are held for a longer period of time (3–5 mins). All poses have modifications, and props are used extensively, so this class is suited to all levels and ages.
For practical guidelines on VIRTUAL classes, please visit our New Student Information page.
Props are used extensively for this class. For IN STUDIO classes, we will provide blocks, bricks and a bolster (which will be quarantined for one week after use). You should bring
