Yang to Yin | A New Year's Eve Extended Afternoon Practice
Tuesday 31 December 2024 | 3:00 - 5:30 pm | Richard Knight | £35
Celebrate the turning of the year with this special New Year’s Eve extended and immersive yoga practice.
We will –
- open with breathwork to regulate the nervous system and prepare the body and mind
- move into a fiery dynamic flow
- enjoy a restorative yin practice accompanied by readings and reflections on yoga philosophy – and all the props!
- end with an immersive yoga nidra experience, taking you into the liminal state between waking and sleeping.
- be bathed in Reiki energy during yoga nidra by Daniela Vanasco.
Reiki is a holistic healing practice, combining spiritual, physical, and emotional elements to promote overall well-being. It is considered one of the oldest healing arts, utilizing life force energy to support the body’s natural healing processes. Reiki can be administered through hands-on techniques, where the practitioner gently places their hands on or just above the recipient’s body, or it can be performed remotely, allowing energy to be channeled across distances.
After the practice, join us for a cup of chai or sparkling non-alcoholic drinks and a chance to reflect on the year gone by and consider what lies ahead in 2025.
About Richard Knight
Dynamic Flow, Vinyasa, Rocket, Nidra and Yin Yoga Teacher
The practice of yoga is central to Richard’s life; he became a teacher so he could share with others all that the practice brought into his life.
Drawing on the various lineages of vinyasa yoga, Richard’s teaching combines the discipline of ashtanga vinyasa with the creativity of rocket. In contrast and complement to the dynamic classes, he leads meditations and teaches a mindful and restorative style of yin yoga. He also offers an accessible chair flow, adapted to suit people of all ages, bodies and abilities, consistent with his belief that yoga truly is for every body.
Focusing on the connection between mind and body, Richard’s classes interweave yoga philosophy with creative sequencing. He holds space in a playful and supportive manner so students feel safe to explore – and sometimes to fall! Expect to be challenged and inspired in both body and mind, and know that no visit to the mat is ever wasted.
In addition to studio classes, Richard offers regular workshops and several international retreats each year. He believes that retreats and workshops are spaces to cultivate the community that is central to his teaching and for his students to explore the practice more holistically.
Off the mat, Richard lives in south east London and is a celebrant, delivering bespoke and unforgettable weddings and funerals.
