Dream 2025 - New Year's Day Retreat - Flow into Yin, Cacao, Breathwork & Nidra

Emma Landolt | 11 am - 3:00 pm | 1 January 2025 | Price: £60

We invite you to a sacred space to start the year in ceremony and celebration. Together, we will dream and vision the year ahead.

Our journey will –

  • Begin with creative vinyasa yoga and movement to shake the old energy out of the body, followed by Yin yoga & a grounding meditation to calm and soothe the nervous system.
  • Enjoy a break for snacks and tea and we will spend some time journaling ideas, visions and dreams for the coming year.
  • Share a cup of ceremonial cacao infused with Blue Lotus flowers, an ancient Egyptian medicine for dreaming and visions. Blue Lotus is a soothing, anti-inflammatory infusion that calms anxiety, can induce mild euphoria and aids meditation and sleep.
  • Experience a gentle breathwork activation and then, with intentions set, we drop into the Yoga Nidra space of deep conscious rest to vision and manifest our year ahead.
  • Close with the invitation to share our experiences of the practice, our intentions and dreams for the year ahead and perhaps by pulling an oracle card for our onward journey.

Yoga Nidra is the practice of awakened sleep from the ancient tradition of Tantra. It allows us to slip into the liminal space, a fertile ground where intentions can be seeded and where we can receive guidance, healing and intuition. Beyond that it is simply a place of deep nourishing rest where we have absolutely nothing to do. The dreamscape will be accompanied by crystal and Tibetan singing bowls to cleanse the energetic field.

Ceremonial Cacao

Tsatsayaku ceremonial grade cacao we use is made from the Arriba Nacional | Fino de Aroma cacao bean in Ecuador. It is wild-harvested, non-GMO, organic and Fair Trade. Cacao contains potassium, phosphorus. copper, iron, zinc, and magnesium which contribute to cardiovascular health. Cacao has the ability to trigger the release of dopamine and the endorphins that soothe the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and depression. It contains the bliss molecule Anandamide which helps to relieve emotional stress.

Please note that cacao doe s not work well with caffeine so we recommend to leave at least 3 hours between drinking coffee or stimulants and cacao. We also recommend that you do not eat at least 3 hours prior to the ceremony to support your body to take in and absorb the cacao for ceremony

Please bring:

  • a crystal, flower, shell, feather, stone or small precious object to place on our group altar
  • a notebook and pen to journal
  • a water bottle – be sure to drink plenty of water both before and during the workshop.

Please note:

* If you have any medical issues/conditions, are taking any medication (including anti-depressants), if you have a heart condition, or if you are pregnant, please consult your GP before drinking cacao.

* Blue lotus is not suitable for pregnancy so if pregnant let us know beforehand and we will prepare it without – admin@theshala.co.uk.

Emma Landolt

Emma has been a passionate and dedicated yoga practitioner for more than 15 years and has been teaching since 2013. She initially turned to yoga to help a shoulder injury and was greatly inspired by the healing transformation that took place in her body as her yoga practice deepened. Her love of yoga took her to India where she trained to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow, a combination of the traditional Ashtanga practice and a more contemporary Flow style.

Emma shares her ever evolving practice in regular classes and workshops in South London and leads retreats in India, Sri Lanka, Colombia and Europe. She has completed numerous teacher trainings; Inversions with Patrick Beach, Ashtanga with David Swenson, Yin Yoga with Josh Summers, Rocket, Mandala, Yin and Tripsichore with The Yoga People and Yoga Nidra with Uma Dinsmore Tuli. She is a registered Teacher with Yoga Alliance with more than 600 hours of training.

Her background in dance and Capoeira, teaching both during her twenties, has infused her yoga with the joy and poetry of physical movement. She uses this passion to create dynamic, flowing, dance-like sequences, which she guides her students through gracefully, joining the movements with breath and creating a feeling of lightness, ease and deep relaxation for her students. Her love of handstands and inversions brings a sense of fun and play to her offering.

Her teaching fuses elements of Rocket and Mandala styles, and she often mixes this dynamic practice with Yin Yoga to balance the sometimes physically challenging Yang style of Vinyasa. Her classes often include Yoga Nidra, the sacred yoga of sleep, as a guided meditation for true awakening. She uses breathwork, intention and philosophy to deeply relax and calm the nervous system, encouraging students to let go of the narratives in the mind and to drop into true Being. Her classes encourage awareness energetically, physically and spiritually. Emma creates a positive, nurturing environment for students to learn, experiment and transform through their yoga practice. Her classes empower and inspire students to rediscover their own sacred space which they can return home to again and again.
