As the year ends it seems that the unforeseen legacy of 2020 will be not only those we sadly lost to Covid, but also those that got Covid and never fully recovered: The Long Haulers of Long Covid.
It'll be 8 years before anyone can call themselves a Long Covid specialist, though there are some things we can certainly do now, that, through our early experiences, can improve Long Covid, sometimes dramatically.
These varying long-lasting symptoms have often something in common with other autonomic syndromes, and accordingly, there are some experts who have insight as the earliest research papers start to come through. Breath, physiology and posture, biochemistry, and Clinical Hypnotherapy can all have a part to play here to improve the quality of life for nearly everyone who has had the misfortune to get Covid and still feel its residue and after effects, after weeks and months.
When it comes to Long Covid, the founder of The Breathing Institute Ben Wolff and senior Breathing Institute founding member and Covid patient herself, Nadyne Mckie have experience and information of a practical nature to share. Read more on Nadyne's biog and personal experiences with Covid below.

Nadyne McKie, Founder of Mindful Movement Method
Following a corporate career in finance, and years spent in a state of chronic stress and breath holding, Nadyne found her way to yoga and there she met Ben Wolff who introduced her to the power of the breath.
Nadyne is passionate about the mind body connection and for the last ten years she has run her own business helping people with their health and wellness journey, supporting them with lifestyle choices and behaviour change. This led her to a degree in Psychology and now a Masters in Health Psychology.
For the past two years she studied intensively with The Minded Institute towards a Professional Diploma in Yoga Therapy combining the worlds of yoga, neuroscience and psychotherapeutic techniques to empower clinical populations towards improved health and wellbeing. Ironically during her final exams and clinical assessments she tested positive for Covid-19 and felt incredibly unwell with intense fatigue, body aches and pains, loss of taste and smell and fever. Like many people, she assumed once the acute symptoms were gone she would be back to her ’normal’ self but that was not the case and the fatigue lingered on. Each morning she awoke feeling like she had been drugged with headaches and brain fog.
Nadyne is an eternal student and so off to Breathing School she went! Working with Ben and the breathing techniques developed for Long Covid has been amazing and greatly inspired her research. However it’s the personal accounts from people living with Long Covid that touch her most and encouraged her to take the plunge (despite her great pal, anxiety or anzebedee as we breathers like to call it!) to work with Ben and bring this workshop to people suffering with symptoms following Covid.
If that is you, please know that you are not alone. Nadyne passionately believes that how we BREATHE holds the key to alleviating many of the physical and psychological symptoms and if we explore this with curiosity, we can facilitate our own recovery and healing and the magic can happen!
