The yoga world is evolving and it's more important than ever for yoga teachers to confidently market themselves and communicate with students online.

The training will cover all relevant marketing channels that yoga teachers need to have a strong online presence. Expect to explore a wide range of marketing techniques and understand how it can work for your target audience, and to explore not only the practicalities of using social media channels, but look at how you can create authentic content to tell your personal story, and communicate your messaging and offerings.

Used in the right way, advertising is a powerful way for yoga teachers to be visible to their target audience and let people know who you are - and what you do. By understanding the journey someone takes from when they first discover you online - to when they join your class, you will confidently create engaging and highly targeted adverts that reach the right people who’ll benefit from your offerings. This workshop is aimed at trainee yoga teachers, or established yoga teachers who want to strengthen their online presence, grow their community and market themselves effectively and authentically.

Course Overview

The aim of this course is to give clarity and understanding of the online world, how yoga teachers can positively market themselves and their offerings, how having a website can strengthen your online visibility as a yoga teacher and help you connect with your audience. You will understand how to create a website and what content represents your personal story and message. You will learn how Google decides to show your website in search results so you can be easily found by your ideal client, the workshop will demystify SEO (search engine optimisation).

You will get a deeper understanding of the social media channels available, so you can select the platforms that you will enjoy using. You will learn how to find your voice on social media, create authentic content that resonates and engages your audience.

By having a strong online presence you will make your offerings more visible to those who could benefit and get your message out there.

  • Practicalities

    • This workshop can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of our 300-YA accredited programmeStudents can either register the hours as YACEP if the teacher is registered OR as part of the 300 hr Level 2.
    • The course is via VIRTUAL LIVESTREAM with catch up sessions available for 7 days if you can't attend
    • Once you have completed your 300-hour training you can register as a RYT 500 teacher
    • Students that do ALL FOUR Business of Yoga sessions in 2021 will receive a 10 hour certificate

    Teacher Bio

    Lynda Phoenix is a marketing consultant who has worked extensively in the self-development, yoga and wellness industry. She has worked for the largest wellness event in the UK ‘The Wellbeing Festival and has consulted for a variety of Hay House authors and leading Yoga teachers and studios. 

    She has taught digital marketing at a variety of Yoga based educators including Yogacampus and the Shala School of Yoga as well as The Life Centre. Having worked for over 20 years in the digital space, Lynda has managed a range of digital campaigns including communications for Samsung, pioneering the UK's first download store, to running a variety of startups businesses

    She now dedicates her time to freelancing and teaching in the yoga and wellness industry.

Should you wish to make any complaints or raise any issues, please follow the procedure laid out below so we can find a resolution as quickly as possible.



    You may involve someone else to support you at any stage.



    Stage One: Speak to the teacher training manager by lasering teachertraining@theshala.co.uk concerned within 3 days after your experience and try to resolve informally. The teacher training manager will aim to come back to you within 2 working days with a resolve. If you are not satisfied with the response you have received, follow stage two.

    Stage Two: Outline the details of your complaint by email to the teacher training manager who will investigate the complaint. Your complaint will be acknowledged within 3 working days from the date it is received. Please include the following information in your email:

  • The date(s) that the incident happene
  • Class/course/workshop the complaint stems from
  • Why you are complaining and what resolution you would expect?
  • Whether you want to make the complaint anonymously or not ( in the case of anybody at risk we have the right to break confidentiality in order to try and prevent the risk)


  • The teacher training manager will then investigate the complaint through reviewing the details, and in some cases possibly writing to the tutor or person about whom the complaint has been made. The letter will outline the main elements of your complaint and ask for a full written response.


    At this point, if further relevant information comes to light, you may be asked for your comments to ensure the investigator has a balanced understanding. When your response has been received, the investigator will consider all the information available to them and make a decision.

    The response will include the following information:

  • Details of the investigation
  • A decision about whether the complaint was upheld or not
  • The reason for the decision
  • The re-dress, if appropriate, will be offered to you, for example, an apology, additional help or directing you to other sources of advice or support
  • Any other action that may be taken in light of the complaint


  • If it is not possible to provide a full answer to your complaint within 30 working days, the letter will outline reasons why and give a date by which a full answer is expected.
    • Deposit £150, non refundable but can be transferred to another person 
    • The remaining balance is refundable up to 1 month before the event.  
    • Cancellation 2 - 4 weeks before the event: 50 % of the balance in refund only
    • Cancellation less than 2 weeks before the event: no refund

     Workshops at the Shala are run independently and all payments for workshop services are accepted on behalf of the individual teacher. 

    • Purchases for workshops are non-refundable 
    • Cancellations may be made online up to 24-hours before the start of the workshop in which case your Shala account will be credited and you will be able to rebook for a workshop of a similar price
    • The workshop will be recorded and anyone who registers but is unable to attend the livestream event can email us to request a link to the recording, which will be available for 7 days after the event. Late cancellations and no shows will be charged as if you had attended. 
    • In the event that a workshop is cancelled by the Shala you will be offered a refund or the option to be transferred to an alternative event
    Participants are muted during the workshop and are encouraged to interact and may ask questions through the chat function on Zoom.
