This course is aimed at anybody wishing to understand how to support and provide help for those suffering the symptoms of Covid and Long Covid. The knowledge and skills imparted draw upon a range of disciplines including breath work, neuroscience, physiology, clinical hypnotherapy and biochemistry. The training is suitable for anyone suffering themselves, those looking to support loved ones or for continued professional development.

Course Overview

It will be eight years before anyone can call themselves a Covid or Long Covid specialist, though there are certainly some things we can do now that through early experiences, can improve Covid and Long Covid symptoms sometimes dramatically.

These varying long-lasting symptoms often have something in common with other autonomic syndromes, and accordingly, there are some experts who have insight as the earliest research papers are published.

Breath, physiology and posture, biochemistry, and clinical hypnotherapy can all have a part to play here to improve the quality of life for nearly everyone who has had the misfortune to get Covid and who may still feel its residue and after effects, weeks and months later.

In a world where there are currently few recommendations, the Founder of The Breathing Institute, Ben Wolff (pictured right) and Senior Founding Member and Covid-patient herself, Nadyne McKie, have experience and information of a practical nature to share.

This 13 hour training allows you time to learn new techniques, capture subtlety, gain theory and information, troubleshoot, and to practice whilst learning more about the impact of Covid and Long Covid and how these practices can be used to improve your skills for personal use, loved ones or patients.


Course Content

We are not giving medical advice or diagnoses. Nor are we offering miracle cures. Instead we are sharing practical tools and techniques based on Nobel Prize winning science to impact oxygenation, change thinking and feeling and most of all improve quality of life.

The simple practices that will be shared, come only with positive side effects. They include:

  • Changing the way we breathe to address oxygen deficit and impact nitric oxide
  • Re-educating the immune system via balancing of hormones and the vestibular system 
  • Improving breathlessness through calibration, and attention to the body’s very own breathing pacemaker  
  • Down regulating the inflammatory response through simple physiological shifts 
  • Using colour and imagery to address loss of smell and taste and for general aches and pains 
  • Attending to interoception to balance and regulate dysrhythmia 
  • Improving fatigue by addressing and soothing the body budgeting system

Most of all we know through our own personal experience and the experience of many others, that through deployment of these simple practices we can positively change the way we are impacted by Covid and the long-term symptoms of Long Covid.

    Ben Wolff

    Ben Wolff is a Breathwork Teacher, Yoga Teacher, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Dream Yoga practitioner with a profound depth of experience and understanding in his field. He is an engaging, compassionate and hugely knowledgeable teacher, whose enthusiasm for his subject is infectious and inspiring. 

    Ben has a remarkable understanding of contemporary scientific research into meditation, neuroscience and other fields. Brought on by his recovery from serious illness and nearly a decade of continuous research and investigation, Ben shares his findings from both ancient wisdom traditions and modern science in ways that are open and accessible to everyone. In his teachings you can expect to hear what's most useful, rapidly effective and easy to learn and participate in simple and safe practices that many have witnessed to be literally "life-changing".     Nadyne McKie

    Following a corporate career in finance, and years spent in a state of chronic stress and breath holding, Nadyne found her way to yoga, and there, she met Ben Wolff who introduced her to the power of the breath.

    Nadyne has for the last ten years run her own business Mindful Movement Method, teaching movement, yoga and breathing techniques to corporate companies and clinical populations suffering chronic health conditions. Nadyne has a degree in Psychology and now a Masters in Health Psychology. For the past three years she has studied intensively towards a Professional Diploma in Yoga Therapy combining the worlds of neuroscience, psychotherapy and yoga philosophy to empower clinical populations towards improving their health.

    Ironically, it was during her final exams and clinical assessments that she tested positive for Covid and felt incredibly unwell with intense fatigue, body aches and pains, loss of smell and for the first time in her life, breathlessness.

    “Like many people I assumed once the acute symptoms were gone I’d be back to my normal self but it wasn’t the case and the fatigue lingered on. Each morning I woke up feeling like I’d been drugged with intense headaches and brain fog, not able to do the things I normally did”

    Working with Ben, and the breathing techniques was life-changing with many ‘aha!” moments. Nadyne recovered and went on to work with Ben developing the breathing protocol for Covid and Long Covid which has greatly inspired her research. However, it’s the personal accounts from people living with Long Covid that encouraged her to share this work and bring these practices to the many people continuing to suffer with the long term symptoms of Long Covid.     • This course will give you the foundations to help yourself or others who have Covid and Long Covid. It will not qualify you to offer this methodology in the form of specialised workshops
    • If you wish to gain a Kite Mark of Approval to teach this methodology as specialised workshops, you should
      - complete the 10 Questions
      - attend Blended Breathing School (if you have not already done so)
      - arrange a 121 session with one of the tutors, where you will specifically agree what you may go on to teach
      - * 1-1 sessions are at a discounted £108 per hour and normally an hour in duration, bookable directly with the teacher
    • If you are on our 300-hour Yoga Alliance Accredited Training you will receive a 10-hour YA certificate for this course


    Trainings at the Shala are run independently and all payments for training services are accepted on behalf of the individual teacher.
