This five-day (40-hour) Yoga Alliance accredited Yin yoga online training course with Norman Blair gives participants space to study and to explore this increasingly popular yoga practice. There will be detailed examination of poses, examples of sequencing, modifications and contraindications and plenty of time for participants to evaluate their own experience. The reasons for practicing and the immense benefits of this form of yoga will also be explained. 

This is a wonderful opportunity for practitioners to deepen their knowledge of Yin yoga in a small group (limited to 20) with one of the most experienced yin teachers in the UK. Three three-hour sessions will be led by external teachers: on anatomy, on meridians and on meditation. By the end of this course, participants will have a much deeper understanding of Yin yoga and qualified yoga teachers will be equipped to begin teaching Yin yoga.

Course Overview

This five-day immersion into Yin yoga with Norman Blair creates space for exploration and study.

The reasons for, and the results from practising this form will be explained. There will be detailed examination of poses, examples of sequencing and plenty of time to evaluate our own experience. Participants will learn about contraindications and modifications. 

By the end of the course, participants will have a deeper understanding of Yin as a practice. Qualified yoga teachers will be equipped to begin teaching Yin yoga. Learning Yin yoga will greatly expand your horizons as a teacher, equipping you with the tools to offer this deeply meditative practice to your students.

  • practising more than twenty Yin yoga poses 
  • exploring the relationship between Yin yoga and meditation 
  • understanding the precautions and the possibilities of Yin yoga 
  • learning about meridians and how Yin yoga might influence energy flows 
  • examining the differences between Yin yoga, Restorative yoga and dynamic yoga 
  • doing Yin yoga in different ways (with props, without props and more) 
  • the history of Yin yoga 
  • examining some of the theories behind Yin yoga
  • You will receive two manuals plus handouts on anatomy, meridians and meditation - and more
  • There are 35 contact hours in total plus 5 hours of assignments and prep. Yoga Alliance accreditation is for 40 hours.

Practicalities

  • A 200-hour yoga teacher training is usually a prerequisite for joining any of our Level 2 trainings but not essential 
  • This course can be taken as a stand-alone course or as part of our 300-YA accredited programme
  • The course will be VIRTUAL LIVESTREAM 
  • You will receive Yoga Alliance 40 accredited Level 2 hours as a stand-alone course or towards our 300-hour training; 32 contact hours plus 8 hours of prep and homework
  • Training hours (40) in total are also eligible for Yoga Alliance continuing education (YACEP)
  • Capacity is limited to 22 students and Norman's Yin yoga teacher trainings regularly have a waiting list so early booking is recommended.

  • Once you have completed your 300-hour training you can register as a RYT 500 teacher
  • Three sessions (three hours each) will be led by external teachers - on anatomy, on meridians and on meditation
  • Please make sure that you have props to hand - whether it is a yoga belt or a dressing gown belt, a bolster or a rolled-up towel, a yoga block or a cookery book. Maximise comfort and support - using pillows and blankets and anything else that can be helpful.

Teacher Bio

Norman Blair

Norman Blair is one of the most experienced Yin yoga teachers in the UK. He began practising yoga in the early 1990s, has been teaching since 2001, started teaching Yin yoga in 2003 and has been running five-day intensive Yin yoga courses since 2013.

Norman has studied extensively with teachers such as Sarah Powers, Bernie Clark, Judith Lasater and Richard Freeman. In 2016 his book Brightening Our Inner Skies; Yin and Yoga was published. His teaching is grounded by accessibility, openness and inclusivity. Read more about Norman here.

Pricing

  • The cost is £550 for the full 5-day LIVESTREAM ONLINE training. A non-refundable deposit of £150 is required on booking.

  • If you do not pay in full, please ensure that you save your credit card details so we can process the final payment of £400. This will happen 21 days before the start of the course and a receipt will be sent to you when the payment has been taken.
  • 300 hour students get a 10% discount on this training if they have booked three trainings with us including the core. Email us if this is the case and the discount will be applied when the balance is taken

  • Deposit £150, non refundable but can be transferred to another person 
  • The remaining balance is refundable up to 1 month before the event.  
  • Cancellation 2 - 4 weeks before the event: 50 % of the balance in refund only
  • Cancellation less than 2 weeks before the event: no refund

 

Trainings at the Shala are run independently and all payments for training services are accepted on behalf of the individual teachers. 

  • The livestreamed elements of this training will be recorded and anyone who is unable to attend this part can email us to request a link to the recording, which will be available for 7 days after the event. 
  • Late cancellations and no shows will be charged as if you had attended. 
  • In the event that a training is cancelled by the Shala you will be offered a refund or the option to be transferred to an alternative event
