Martin Aylward

Martin Aylward is a meditation teacher in the Buddhist forest tradition of Vipassana or Insight meditation. After many years living and studying in Asian monasteries, retreat centres and Himalayan hermitages, he founded and runs a meditation retreat centre with his wife Gail in South-West France (MoulindeChaves.org). He has been teaching dharma worldwide for over 20 years with a flexible approach that supports students to connect more directly to their inner experience, leading urban intensives such as Work Sex Money Dharma that explore the charged areas of everyday life.

He is founding and guiding teacher of the online Dharma teaching platform WorldwideInsight.org, and co-founder and director of the MindfulnessTrainingInstitute.com which has trained over 200 Mindfulness teachers in 25 countries. Martin has taught as visiting faculty at universities in Ireland and South Africa for their Masters programs in Mindfulness-based interventions. He has also taken groups of Dharma students to India and Bhutan, and in 2015 was invited by the Bhutanese government to speak at TEDx Thimphu. His meditation teachings are offered as a mobile app at Mind-app.io with over 300 000 downloads, and are included in English and French on all Air France long haul flights.

He is the author of Ne Te Quitte Pas: Le Corps au Coeur de la Méditation (Les Arènes, 2019), Tout le monde peut méditer (Arenes, 2021) and the forthcoming book Awake Where You Are: The Art of Embodied Awareness (Wisdom Publications, November 2021). Find out more at MartinAylward.com.
