Breathing School Foundation Weekend - Learning The 8-Breath Formula

The Shala School of Yoga presents this foundation weekend for anyone interested in learning about the healing and stabilising power of the Breath, based around understanding an 8-Breath Formula. It is suitable for yoga and mindfulness teachers and practitioners wanting to enhance their practice, therapists and health care professionals who wish to use the breath to support themselves and therapeutic relationship, and for the general public who would like to learn simple tools to support living well in busy and stressful times, to manage chronic health problems or to support a loved one.
During the weekend, students will learn how to relax and prepare the body to receive the Breath. Specifically, you will be taught 8 breaths for the practical self-management of stress and anxiety, depressive symptoms, chronic pain, injury, sleep issues, breathing problems and fatigue. We will also look at how allowing optimum breathing patterns can enhance cognitive function, physical energy and a balanced awareness. Practices will be supported by current research, neuro-anatomy and physiology so that attendees can understand the crucial connection between breath-body-brain integration. We will also look at breath and interpersonal relationships and how breathing affects feelings and behaviour (and thus the way we think about ourselves and relate to others, communicate and behave).
The training is delivered in a variety of learning styles to suit all; experiential and cognitive, in pairs/groups and via illustrative case studies and discussion. Explore a serious subject in a fun, compassionate and accessible way! No equipment needed.
Certification: attendees will receive a Shala School of Yoga certificate of attendance.
This course will be the first of our teacher training offerings for 2018 and it may be possible to apply these hours towards our 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training Certification which is currently being put together. For more details please contact us directly.
This course is also a requirement for the longer Breathing School Training for Yoga teachers, therapists and Healthcare Professionals, running later in 2018. (Details to be announced soon). The longer intensive training will allow attendees to confidently use the techniques with patients, clients and students and will be accredited.
The course is taught by Ben Wolff , co-founder of Breathing School and passionate disseminator of the healing and stabilising power of the breath.
