Maintaining a Healthy Back - Yamuna Bodyrolling

As part of our ongoing series of monthly Yamuna bodyrolling (YBR) workshops, this session will explore how to maintain a healthy back.

Bodyrolling is a powerful and profound self-fixing and maintaining tool invented by the extraordinary visionary Yamuna Zake – a master teacher and healer who has dedicated her life to understanding how the body works and to helping others to create positive change in their bodies. It is a practice that everyone can do regardless of age or physical limitations. The system empowers us to maintain our own body structures, thus healing and preventing pain and injury. Fundamentally, it enables us to maintain our bodies, preventing injuries and keeping the body moving freely and without restriction at every age.

If you have ever suffered from back pain and you want to prevent any back discomfort or weakness, this class will help you to

  • correct and maintain a healthy back
  • build a long and strong back, maintaining healthy lumbar, thoracic and cervical vertebrae and discs
  • correctly work the abdominal muscles so they support and protect the spine properly

Using props created by Yamuna, you will be lead through routines which:

  • elongate muscles 
  • release the spine 
  • improve alignment 
  • deepen the breathing 
  • increase relaxation response

The effects are instant and you will experience remarkable changes in your body after just one session. You will also be able to continue the practice at home.

Suitable for all levels, this workshop is highly recommended for anyone who has suffered from back issues of any kind. Similar but better than any massage therapy, bodyrolling is also the ideal compliment to a yoga practice, enabling you to deepen your practice and develop an intuitive understanding of your own anatomy.

We will be integrating bodyrolling into our regular schedule either as a monthly workshop or a weekly class - watch this spot!

 

  • Minor health issues and injuries should be discussed with your teacher before the class. Please arrive 10 minutes early to discuss.
  • If you are suffering/have suffered from a medical condition (including heart condition, chest pains, dizziness, high blood pressure) or a serious injury, it is essential you first consult your doctor before joining classes. Please then discuss this with us before booking so we can advise you on a personalised programme.

  • Purchases for workshops are non-refundable 
  • Cancellations may be made online up to 24-hours before the start of the workshop in which case your Shala account will be credited and you will be able to rebook for a workshop of a similar price
  • Late cancellations and no shows will be charged as if you had attended
  • In the event that a workshop is cancelled by the Shala you will be offered a refund or the option to be transferred to an alternative event
